SCDOT Lexington Maintenance has closed a portion of Neely Wingard Road between US 178 and Pond Branch Road in Gilbert due to high water elevation under the bridge that crosses Bouknight Pond. High water elevation has been caused due to the recent rains and overnight beaver activity under the bridge. As a result, immediate repairs are required to the roadway. A detour route has been installed guiding motorists to use Calks Ferry Road and Pond Branch Road. SCDOT is anticipating Neely Wingard Road will be reopened by Friday, April 12. SCDOT is aware of the inconvenience this will cause to the local traffic and appreciates the traveling public's patience while repairs are underway.
