The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will hold a ceremony Monday, April 29, 2019, to honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to SCDOT and the state of South Carolina.

The SCDOT Workers Memorial Day ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. in front of SCDOT Headquarters, 955 Park St., Columbia. This is the location of the SCDOT Workers Memorial, which was unveiled in 2018.

The Memorial honors SCDOT employees, dating back to the 1920s, killed while working on the highways as well as those who died on the job from natural causes.

Scheduled speakers include Secretary of Transportation Christy A. Hall, SCDOT Commission Chairman Robert D. "Robby" Robbins of the 1st Congressional District, and SCDOT Deputy Secretary for Engineering Leland Colvin.
