Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 5-7 PM

at Socastee Elementary School

4223 Socastee Blvd

Myrtle Beach, SC 29588

Meeting:

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), in partnership with Horry County, will hold a Public Information Meeting on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, on the proposed connection of Fred Nash Boulevard to Harrelson Boulevard in Myrtle Beach. The proposed project will widen the existing Fred Nash Blvd. to three-lanes beginning at Emory Road and extend the existing road to provide a direct connection to Harrelson Blvd. Bicycle and pedestrian facilities will be included in the design. The meeting will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Socastee Elementary School (4223 Socastee Blvd).

Citizens will have the opportunity to view the proposed improvements, speak with project team members and provide written comments. Formal, verbal comments will not be taken during this meeting. The meeting will be a drop-in format; no formal presentation will be made.

Purpose:

The purpose of this meeting is to provide citizens an opportunity to review and discuss the proposed improvements to Fred Nash Blvd. with representatives from SCDOT and Horry County. These improvements are intended to reduce traffic congestion at the US 17/Harrelson interchange and generate an efficient traffic link that will provide a direct connection from Fred Nash Blvd. to Harrelson Blvd. Personnel from SCDOT and Horry County will be available to answer questions and discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis. Another purpose of the meeting is to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area.

Contact:

Additional information concerning the project may be obtained by contacting Marla Watson, SCDOT Asst. Program Manager, at 803-737-1041 or WatsonMN@scdot.org.
