SCDOT Public Information Meeting Scheduled for 4 Proposed Bridge Replacements on I-20 in Aiken County

Proposed Bridge Replacements at

I-20 over North Augusta Greeneway – Mile Marker 2.7;

I-20 over SC 19 (Edgefield Hwy) – Mile Marker 17.7;

I-20 over S-980 (Gregory Rd) - Mile Marker 19.5; and

I-20 over South Edisto River – Mile Marker 26.1

Projects:

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) proposes to replace existing bridges along I-20 over the North Augusta Greeneway, SC 19 (Edgefield Hwy), S-980 (Gregory Rd), and South Edisto River. The purpose of these projects is to correct functional and structural deficiencies associated with the existing bridges.

 

Meeting:

SCDOT invites citizens to attend a public information meeting on Thursday, July 25, 2019, from 5-7 PM, at Paul Knox Middle School in the Media Center located at 1804 Wells Road, North Augusta, SC 29841. The meeting will be held in an open house format and guests are welcome to come at their convenience. Engineering and environmental personnel from SCDOT and its consultant will be available to discuss the projects with interested citizens on an individual basis. Maps and drawings of the proposed improvements will be available, and attendees may ask questions and provide comments regarding the possible social, economic, and environmental effects of the projects. The project team will consider the written comments and other meeting input while preparing project designs.  The purpose of the meeting is to provide information to and solicit feedback from area residents concerning the projects. Another purpose of the meeting is to gather information from the public about cultural and historic resources in the area and to discuss the proposed plan for coordinating with the North Augusta Greeneway throughout the process.
