The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) and its contracting partner, Palmetto Corporation of Conway, will be scheduling temporary road closures on the south leg of SC 327 (Francis Marion Road) in Florence County on November 18, 2019.
SC 327 is scheduled to reopen January 2, 2020. This temporary closure is in preparation for stage two construction of the SC 327/S-21-57 Intersection Improvement project.
Motorists should note the closure will begin at the S-21-57 (Claussen Rd.) intersection. Message boards with road closure information will be placed on Old River Road, Francis Marion Road, and Claussen Road.
A detour route has been established with signs to inform motorists of an alternate route. The detour consists of the following roads: SC 327 (Francis Marion Road), SC 327 (Ingram Bypass/Planer Rd.), SC 51 (Pamplico Hwy.), S-21-57 (Claussen Rd.).
This Intersection Improvement project is part of SCDOT's Strategic 10-Year Plan under the Rural Road Safety Program, which helps to identify and implement needed safety features on many of South Carolina's Rural Roads.
