Public Information Meeting Tuesday, January 28 Concerning Proposed Corridor Safety Improvements along Two Notch Rd (US 1)

Meeting:

Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at E.L Wright Middle School, 2740 Alpine Road, Columbia, SC 29223. The meeting will have a drop-in format with displays for viewing, informational handouts, and comment forms. Citizens will have the opportunity to provide written comments. Formal, verbal comments will not be taken during this meeting. Project information, including meeting material, will be made available on the project website (https://arcg.is/1meqPz), or by accessing SCDOTs website (http://www.scdot.org, Public Involvement Portal, Current Projects).

 

Purpose:

The purpose of this meeting is to provide an opportunity to review and discuss individually with representatives from the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) the proposed corridor safety improvements along US 1 from Trenholm Road to Valhalla Drive. A concept plan is being developed that may include construction of a raised median, U-turn accommodations, crosswalks, and ADA improvements.

The project is based on a Road Safety Assessment conducted in partnership among SCDOT, Richland County, the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the Columbia Police Department, and the Federal Highway Administration.

Another purpose of this meeting is to gather information from the public or any interested organization on historic or cultural resources in the area. Personnel from SCDOT will be available to answer questions and discuss the project with interested citizens on an individual basis.
