US 21 Bridge Replacement Project over Sandy Run Creek in Colleton County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is currently replacing the bridge along US 21 (Lowcountry Highway) in Colleton County.  This bridge is rated as being structurally deficient and therefore qualifies for Federal Bridge Replacement funding.

Construction is expected to begin Monday, July 27, 2020.  Pending any delays due to weather conditions, fabricator delays, etc., the bridge should be reopened to traffic by approximately September 30, 2021.

The bridge will remain open with staged construction allowing two-way traffic throughout the construction duration.

The SCDOT District Six Office has notified locally affected businesses and schools via letter advising them of this construction.

If you have any questions, you may contact District Construction/Maintenance Engineer Kevin Turner, P.E. at (843) 746-6726.
