SCDOT Hosts Public Information Meeting for the S-195 (New Cut Church Road) Bridge Replacement over Camp Creek in Lancaster County

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will hold a Public Information Meeting and is requesting public comments for the proposed bridge replacement of S-195 (New Cut Church Road) over Camp Creek in Lancaster County, SC.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 5-7 PM at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1841 N Rocky River Rd Lancaster, SC 29720.  SCDOT staff will be available to discuss the concept design and project details, and members of the public will have an opportunity to provide written comments.

As a part of its 10-Year Plan that includes replacing deteriorating bridges, SCDOT proposes to replace the existing New Cut Church Road bridge structure on the current alignment.  Traffic will be detoured during construction.  SCDOT estimates that construction could start during summer 2023 and take approximately 12 months to complete.  The existing bridge is structurally deficient and load restricted. Although the bridge is being reconstructed due to structural deficiencies, the bridge is still safe to the traveling public.  More information can be found on the project website scdotgis.online/s195bridge.

Comments can be made at the Public Information Meeting, on the project website, by emailing SCDOT Project Manager Melissa Jackson at JacksonMA@scdot.org, or by mailing comments to Melissa Jackson at SCDOT, 955 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

If you have limited internet access or have any questions about the project, please contact SCDOT Project Manager Melissa Jackson at 803-737-9929 or at JacksonMA@scdot.org to request additional information.

This project is part of SCDOT's 10 Year Strategic Plan that is focused on replacing aging bridges, resurfacing deteriorating roadways, making rural roads safer, and improving key portions of interstates across South Carolina after more than 30 years of deferred maintenance due to lack of funding.  SCDOT will replace or reinforce more than 465 structurally deficient bridges across the state by 2027.
